Not to pick at a sore subject but I realized when we were talking about how your set was now just one book from completion that Colmore's set was complete and that was the only thing it had going for it that was better than yours. And then I remembered that "completeness" is one of the criteria for evaluating a set for an award. I still think that your set is the best, and was the best, but at least I came up with a possible non-conspiracy-theory reason for CGC's decision.

Colmore's set was not complete. He was missing at least four books, maybe five. He added one book on July 13 and one on July 19 which would have been past the deadline. I believe I was only missing 101, 123 and 132 at the time. :)

BTW... I smile because you've all finally driven me insane.

Your not the only one who got hosed Doc.

Here's his description and as we both know you were not only ahead of him but you had descriptions and pics that he did not.

colmoreman - X-Traordinary X-Men!

This is a collection of some the most prominent key X-Men issues and they are in very high-grade. The collection includes an X-Men #94 in 9.6 and a #95 in 9.8. The rest of this collection is just as solid with most of the books being in 9.8. This is a collection to keep your eye on, if only to see what a serious modern collection looks like.

---------------------------------------------

That said here's another case where the 2nd place guy won

-----------------------------------------------

Vantagepoint – Signature Series ASM McFarlane

It has happened again. Last year we were impressed with this candidate’s signature series run of the Batman “Hush” storyline. This year’s collection is a remarkable set of Todd McFarlane’s Spider-Man run. Most are graded 9.8. The thought of trying to accomplish this is enough to make any serious collector start to sweat.

----------Here we have a set that was beat by Joseph Ragno's ASM McFarlanes and Joe got the green best in set type as you did on his but no true recognition for his set that he has around 4 9.9's in.

----------------------------------

Ragno's only problem is that he was missing a couple books but in his defence he has a SS 300 9.8 compared to a SS300 9.6 that vantage point has.

------------------

Could it be that CGC just wants to share the wealth and not double people up on awards when they already got one????
