Was thumbing through some recently received Charltons and came upon this ad from 1980...

At that address now is listed an Uptown Nuvo Beauty Salon

I'm willing to bet this was a backroom operation even when the ad was valid...

That reminds me that the guy who ran the ads for the magic seahorses was supposedly linked to using the profits for Aryan Brotherhood/KKK type programs...

Now that I think about it I remember seeing that ad or one very much like it.

I collected a lot from 1975-1983 and I think some mags had that ad.

Funny, today I was looking through a 1975 JC Penney's Christmas catalog (scanning it for one of my websites) and I came across an ad for hookas, aka waterpipes. "But Mom, it's just for harmless tobacco, I swear!"

 

Also Brooke Shields as a child model, but I'm sure the two aren't related.
