Is the hatred because after Robin, Batman got softer?

Only a groupie of the Dynamic Duo could answer this.

:acclaim:

So...how hard was Batman before Robin?

Apart from the easy slams it is behind 27 28 29 31 33 35 and Batman 1 and above everything else. It might be above 28 and 35 but it is a relatively common book for its era.

A nice copy where the orange is fresh and hasn't faded might step above a nice 28 or 35 but even then I'd have to pick a 28 in 9.0 over a 38 in the same grade.

Very well said Ed. Impressive.

I agree completely with you.

I would add that it is a very cool book to own. Lots of folks bash it due to it being the end to what made the early golden age Batman so cool, but nonetheless it is the first appearance of the most famous sidekick in comics history.

I asked Ciorac that question a while ago, but I forgot what he told me.

I totally understand why you blocked out Ciorac's long tale of man-boy love for Robin.

Ok bondage boy lover, that will be just enough out of you. Now go to your room and remove the plastic from your Toro and Bucky collection and do some penance for your blasphemy.

I admit it (although I do feel some shame in saying it here), I like Detective 38, a lot. It is actually the #1 Detective on my want list. I have been shopping for the right copy for some time. A few points I would like to make.

1. Robin was a significant character in the golden-age (and still is today).

2. The cover is actually kind of cool according to my taste

3. Is and EXTREMELY common Batman book, Not quite at a Batman 1 level, but less demand so many more copies are available

4. Suffers from production issues

5. Is commonly restored

Stupid riddle, circa 1965:

Why does Batman sleep on his stomach?

*

*

*

*

*

*

*

*

*

*

*

So Robin won't get his worm!

Poor looking copy missing back cover.

I wouldn't waste my money on it.

Certainly not $2k.

Asking for money orders and checks only - means you can't reclaim your cash easily once you have the comic in hand.
