I have an ASM #62 I bought off the rack (remember precisely zero about that purchase) and five years later became a "collector" with the purchase of this book and then the discovery there were places that sold "back issues."  Previously, I had dreams that somebody at the store down the street where I bought comics (Joe's Market - an independent grocer) told me they had these in the "back room," and I could buy them if I wanted.  If I knew then what I know now!

A well-loved, frequently-read funny book and a recent upgrade from @october.

Lots of history to unpack here. This was my fist convention pick-up ever. Probably about 1977 in NYC with my dad as he had a dental convention that same week. We stayed for the weekend and I remember being overwhelmed by all the comics. I did find this beauty complete with an (unverified) Romita sig on the splash page! I also used to save all the old price stickers and while I've abandoned that practice and most of the stickers, this is one I saved for 47 years

That's a great story. Those old Mylars with (very low) price stickers bring back a lot of memories.
