Who Hated OMD, but loves BND in ASM?

153 posts in this topic

I for one hated the way they did things in One More Day, but i am really suprised at how much i have enjoyed the first 4 issues of BND.

I think Marvel took the easy way out, and dropped the ball big time in how OMD played out, but love the feel of BND Spidey. It reminds me of the 1980's spideys i got hooked on as a kid, and i am actually counting down the days till i get the next issue.............

Anyone else suprisingly loving BND?

personally, as a Spidey reader for the past 4 to 5 years or so, One More Day has left such a bad taste in my mouth (so to speak) that I cannot enjoy Brand New Day, even though I should.

Every time I flip through the book, I just can't help but be reminded of the horrid steps that were taken to bring the readers to where we are now. I just cannot forget about One More Day, despite Mephisto's magical forgetfullness. And as a result, I just can't seem to enjoy the current publication of the book.

Although, I will admit that I am staying onboard with the title until I get Chris Bachalo's art on the book, and then after that, I have told my LCS guy to stop pulling the book for me.

Hated OMD. But Brand New Day is off to a really good start. I just finished ASM #549 as well and it starts touching upon the Jackpot is MJ rumors. I didn't think Marc Guggenheim could hold a torch to Dan Slott's humor, but I was wrong. It's another solid and fun issue.

The review will be up after midnight on my site (WeeklyComicBookReview.com) if you're interested!

I have been a lifelong Spidey fan and was not thrilled with OMD. On the other hand, BND has been very good so far. I like the feel of the book and Mr. Negative isn't too bad either. I'm also interested to see where they go with Menace. hm

OMD was .

I agree with aloftpeople that BND does have the good 80's story telling.

I am glad to see Harry Osborn back, and the writing and art is good so far. Mr. Negative actually seems like cool new villian for a change that hopefully will become a A list new Spidy villian is they play there cards right.

These numbers have to have Marvel rethinking the wisdom of OMD. The title is in freefall and even Secret Invasion isn't helping...

Is it evil that I'm gleeful about this horrific drop?

BTW- I also think putting the book out 3 times a month is not helping...

What was it pulling before OMD? Wasn't it around 80K? Which would be about equivalent.

I'd love to see the #s for the other two Spidey books cancelled. They were surely not even close to 80K.

For a given month, they are probably selling more books overall.

The canceled Spidey books were like 40K or 50K at best, if I remember correctly. Marvel is doing well with BND. The numbers are leveling off and stabilizing. To say the book is plummeting is ridiculous.
