Watchmen #1 bindery defect question

I've owned about 20 cps. of WATCHMEN #1 now, and I've noticed on almost all of them a common defect.

 

Lower left corner, a bindery tear.

 

Is this common on the whole run, perhaps? Something CGC takes into consideration, and lastly...do you guys out there on the boards notice the same defect and know what I am talking about?

I've had copies with close to perfect corners, although I've seen many copies with the lower corner with almost a tiny triangle missing or just hanging there. I've also seen kind of a roller line along the spine leaving little dents about a half inch from the spine.
