Hey Everybody,

 

Sorry to bring up a score subject with some of you, but I wasn't on the boards when this story broke a couple of years ago, and I was wondering if some of you would help me get the keys facts about the story.

 

I am sure this topic was on the boards in other threads before, but since some time has past I was hoping to see what has transpired since then.

 

I guess first did I would like to know how he got caught? anybody with him?

 

I remember seeing an example of a specific early FF issue that was bought at at a CGC VF+ price and then later it was seen CGC'D at like a 9.4. or something like that?

 

I mean how much of these early books were juiced through CGC undetected?

 

 

I would like to get an informative discussion going, thanks for all who just read this.

The last I heard, Steve B told him to make himself scarce as far as the comic biz was concerned and I don't know if he has been seen since. I think someone did mention seeing him somewhere, though I don't believe it was comic related. It's my understand he was just part of a larger circle that was never identified.

No. some of the board lawyers did some preliminary leg work in hopes of getting a lawsuit against him but it stalled early on in the process.

I guess they realized the negative press would hurt their investments in slabbed comics. Best to keep it quiet.

And just to give a little more background, Ewert was considered a "great guy" and highly recommended on these Boards before, and actually continued a short time by some after, the scandal became public...

Actually I changed my mind, im glad I joined this board. You guys are definately on top of things. This is one of the threads ive read that I really do feel like I gained some important knowledge. I woulda never known that people did this stuff.

I agree, as my previous post states, im glad I read this. I honestly never knew what comic restoration was (except color touch, self explanatory ya know) and after reading multiple threads about these topics. I now understand just how bad a PLOD book is.
