Artists up until about 1965 that colored their own work? Eisner?

4 posts in this topic

Were there any artists up until about 1965 that colored their own artwork? L.B. Cole colored his own covers and I suspect that Eisner colored his work, but I don't know that to be the case. There is also a hand-colored Jack Cole piece on CAF.

Since I've never seen a Golden Age color guide, was coloring usually done at the printer instead?

Yes -- as in usually not by the artist though it could be done at the printers or by in-house staff.

And now you have
