Black Cat 50. I passed up a low grade copy about 18 months ago and regret it every once in a while. And I'm not a pre-code horror guy.

I went with Mister Mystery 12, but it was a tough call. Black Cat 50 and Thing 12 were close seconds.

I debated between CSS22 & fight against crime #20, but since CSS is WAAAAYYYYY more common, I opted for the other.

I'll say it again since it's importance is continually glossed over When the Sid Check story came up in a heritage auction years ago, there were notes all over it, and Frazetta did HEAVY assists on the story, like the cover to Beware #10. If you look at it, it's the finest looking thing Check has done, & that is why.

 

Black Cat Mystery #50 has Frazetta art!!!!

 

My #1 is WMT which just edges out BCM50 because it is so much more difficult.
