Yeah, it really did. Felix, any ideas on the reasons for that? I mean, it's a great piece of art from an equally great series, but the other pieces didn't seem to get to this number.

The only two other pieces I know of that have sold recently just weren't as nice. That would be one reason. Also, this is a large-format piece. Smaller pieces have traded privately in the $2-3K range. Based on that, one could argue that this finished too low! :o But I'm happy with the result.

 

Overall, I got clobbered on a couple of auctions (when Albert wins one of your auctions, you know you did bad :insane:), broke even on one, and came out ahead on two. No reserve auctions are a gamble, but it does make it more interesting for everyone.
