March Madness in May, Round of 32

144 posts in this topic

We’ve made it to the Round of 32. Before we start I’ll go over a few items and clarifications that will help everything run smoother.

1. PM me all grades in the order they are listed. Associate the book with the grade.

2. Submit your grades in standard CGC recognized increments, ie. No 9.5’s. doh!

3. Due date for grades is Friday at 1:00 PM PST

4. Scoring system is the same as last round with the exception of the bonus.

Spot on= 20 points

.2 or closer= 15 points

.5 or closer= 10 points

.7 or closer =7 points

1 or closer= 5 points.

Bonus (cumulative):

2 books spot on= 5 points

3 books spot on=10 points

Amazing Spider-Man 107 OW-W

Daredevil 159 OW-W (Old Label)

Thor 338 White

Wolverine Limited 1 White

The white mark on the lower right of the ASM 107 FC scan is just a reflection from the case. It is not a flaw on the book.

That is a tear on the Wolvey 1 bottom center edge FC.

Is that a pinhole on the H on the FC of Thor 338? Or just some speck reflecting the light?

Not a pinhole...it is a dust reflection.

What's the black mark above the price on the Wolvie?

There's bound to be ties...what is your plan in the event of a tie?

It seems like we should set up a tiebreaker system...thoughts...

Same score, but the least accumalitive differential on the non-spot-on grades beats the opponent. If no spot-ons, same thing.

If the opponents have the same number of spot-ons, assign a secondary higher value to spot-ons that are older books than newer books.

I'm not sure I can think of any other ones...

On the back cover of ASM

#107 on the bottom half of the book, near the spine, there are two marks. Are these dents or just a reflection?

Those marks are not aparent on the actual book.

Also, to answer a PM question, the staples of this boook are NOT rusted.

It appears to be distributor ink.
