Holy , how big is Negans forehead???

Jim

Hahahahahaha. What a pile of garbage.

It is a bit of a joke, isn't it.

I'm not an Adlard-basher, I actually really like his art. But that's amateur at best, and to have it on a cover...

Because I'm slightly bored at work today, I did a half-azz Photoshop to remove the bat and see just how big that forehead is.

From the result, it's not as bad as I thought. I think Charlie was going for a 'Kubrick stare' pose (google it) and effed up the perspective a little bit.

He would hand you 100 bucks, and tell you to "move along, move along."

He's making great business sense, selling a bunch of printings of books that the art and story are already done. By the time all the printings are done, he will have almost 400,000 copies out there. It's just silly.

I'll disagree with that, especially if he is alienating his core audience. 300,000 copies fine, but four or five covers would have been ideal. Especially if they all came out at once. Maximized profits today, with little care for tomorrows repercussions just isn't proper business.

We got this one kid, Mongo... He's got a forehead like a drive-in movie theatre, but he's a good ship. So we don't bust his chops too much. So, one day Mongo gets out of his cage...

It's more like a leash. He's got plenty of room to run and play....dig.

He's not alienating his core audience though. The people who are angry about this are the completionists - nobody else cares how many covers there are because they are only buying one, or maybe two if they really like the cover. And frankly, people who are that into collecting the title are not likely to just jack it all in and stop buying.

I'm sure they will lose a few readers, but not that many. Certainly fewer than the new ones that will have been brought to the title by all the issue 100 publicity (publicity that was driven, at least in part, by the multiple covers).

reminds me of my favorite thai food joint...people would wait in line to eat there -- sometimes 30, 40, minutes even an hour wait -

their noodle mao was fantastic - a culinary vacation if you will - the chicken was moist, spiced and delicious, the noodles firm and gooey, the sauce inviting...veggies all crisp...things were blissful in my thai world for years....slowly their food started to get gradually worse as they started to slack on quality....at first it was still pretty damn good thai....then...average....its been 2 years after they slacked in quality now and I think they closed a few months ago....a thriving booming business...dead in the water because they slacked in their fundamental quality which drew the crowds..

i see the same thing for WD....the one difference is - good art will still always be good art...it will just be harder to come by...

on that note -- big art / eye-porn update for you guys soon :)
