does anyone here collect comics for the love of comics?

The only reason I buy comics.

does anyone here buy comics and actually keep them in their collection??
Out of all of the comics I have ever purchased (small amount of about 3500) I have only ever sold about 150. Those were because I picked up many duplicates in lots.

Whatever. Perhaps it would be best if you refrained from responding to all of my posts.

Your Jerky-Boy angle is exceedingly dull. You're not even funny.

You're some busy-body: always sticking your nose/two cents in.

You're tiresome. People roll their eyes when you chime in with your cliches.

(You speak in cliches, BTW. You have no original thoughts.)

Shut-up and die the quiet, ignominious death you richly deserve.

Insanity is a terrible thing. Please go away.

From time to time folks forget it's a comic book chat board I think.

I like how he started this whole thing by talking about JC and then saying bring on the hate. Then he tells Joe not to respond to his posts and tells him to shut-up and die.

I don't read them. When I'm ready to sell them, I'll flick through the pages, looking for oddball, weirdo, out of the ordinary things, as well as clipped coupons, etc.).

And scan the covers, post them here, and see if there is any response/interest.

No one would have a problem if you didn't post them in COMICS GENERAL!! :makepoint:

Oh. Is that it? Wrong forum?

Obviously. doh!

He clearly is a JC shill being used by Joe to artifically engender sympathy.

hm

lol

Damn, couldn't type it with a straight face.

I was expecting him to vomit up something.

When he did, I responded with my suggestion.

These flames can be entertaining to some of you.

Still, I'd rather not indulge in this useless exercise in futility.

Flame on, however.

Most of my books are here for the long haul, and yes, I truly enjoy the hobby of collecting comics for the art, history, americana, and a few stories here and there.

Most of us sell to buy more.....it's the easiest way to build the collection that you really want. Investment is a portion of the hobby that helps in this endeavor.

Don't get too jaded on those that just want to turn a profit, as it takes all kinds in the hobby.

Cheers to those that have full runs, holy grails, and reader copies in piles around the house.

Well said and probably comes closest to how I feel on comic collecting. It's a big tent and everyone's welcome - profiteer and collector. Personally, I am more of a collector than profiteer.

In general, the rule of thumb if you're a dealer/seller of comics is to NOT be the last guy holding the book.

- Buy it before it gets HOT and then sell it.

- Or buy it while it's HOT and then sell it while it's still HOT for a profit.

- You don't want to be the last guy holding the book after it goes COLD.

I'M THAT LAST GUY HOLDING THE BOOK. I'm not a dealer/seller I'm a reader/collector. I do love comics and actually keep them. That's why I buy what I like and ignore the trends. Basically, I pay what it's worth to me to own, because I know I'm going to be that last guy holding on to the book.
