Someone needs to tell him his Batman #1 is not worth $600,000

Sad.

He probably got it off a guy for $100,000 and figured he'd make a cool half-mil.

There are actual cases where these have sold as originals. It's sad that some folks get burned by their lack of knowledge.

Everyone should e-mail him and say we know it is isn't an original print. But then go on about how rare it is. A very rare reprint that is just as expensive as an original copy etc.etc..... Lay it on nice and thick. Just enough to get this scammer thinking that maybe he does have a book worth HUGE $$$$$!!!! That would be worth the price of admission for me!! :insane:

I doubt he is a scammer, he thinks he's got the real thing. A scammer would ask a lot less, in hopes of actually making a sale.

What happens to the winning bidder in an auction like this, where the bidder doesn't pay? Can ebay do anything to them?

In *theory* or reality?

Assuming they can track down the bidder, they can actually prosecute them for violation of the contractual obligation they entered into when they made the bid.

Chances are they would call it a non-paying bidder and leave it at that.

It's unlikely that the bidder is anything but a puppet account - which, if the person has ANY intelligence was created at a public terminal where the IP address cannot be tracked back to a specific individual.

Or just be even smarter and use a foreign countries proxy list that doesn't have strong internet laws. You don't need to leave your home to make multiple accounts using multiple IP's. Just need to know how to do it properly which isn't that hard.

The seller gets stuck with outrageous fees, and 'trooper has a few yuks that are often passed on to the rest of the board.
