Valiant question

A friend just emailed me this list of his "old" Valiant comics. What is worth something. I know that some of the Valiant issues remain popular but my Valiant knowledge is slightly limited. I could just break out an overstreet but that won't really help with my question. The comics are all in high grade, NMT I would say.

 

Any help would be great.

Basically, for Valiants, the only ones worth anything are the Pre-Unity books, the last books, and the limited release books (golds, Diamond TPBs, etc.)

 

Some Acclaim books, especially Vol 3 are worth something due to their scarcity.

 

The two HUGE Valiant books are Harbinger #1 and Solar #10 in 9.8. If you have those, then they could command huge amounts in the marketplace.

 

Note that even if you consult the Valiantfans price guide, they include the cost of shipping in their price guide. Treat it like an Overstreet guide... (as in most people will tend to only want to pay only up to 50% of that guide.)

For these books, it will really depend on condition. There is a fairly accurate price guide for the books sckao identified for you at valiantfans.com

 

The pre-Unity books can be worth $50+ each if graded 9.8 by CGC. The Solar 10 could be worth $750+ in CGC 9.8. But if these books are in in typical reader condition VF/NM-NM-, then they are worth a couple bucks each. And the non-highlighed books are basically wholesale if they are in reader condition.

 

If your friend is one of those guys like me who's raw books are in "mint" condition and can be sent to CGC for grading with a reasonable expectation that half might go 9.8, then you could probably offer $200+, slab them and make some good money.

I am going to make him an offer on the lot with hopes of either reselling them raw or maybe submitting some of the better ones to get graded. I am sort of offering on the blind as I have not seen the comics in person however I have bought from him before snd he is a good guy. What should I offer? I wan to be reasonable and not insult him. He told me to offer half of what I could resell the lot for...heck I might just keep them as there is some great books in there.

 

Suggestions on what I should offer?

Okay, I bought the lot and it is currently in the hands of the postal system (scary thought lol.

 

Probably be a few weeks before I get it. The seller who I have bough from a few times before assures me that the key books are mint (which will probably be NMT in my eyes). The few times before he has been really good with his grading however I consider myself a tough grader. If anyone is interested in making offers on any of the books PLMK and I will send you scans as soon as they arrive.
