Vertigo Art Day (Y, PREACHER, 100 BULLETS)

19 posts in this topic

I'm hard-pressed to think of another line that has raised the level of the medium, on a popular level, as much as Vertigo. Some art from the most consistently high-quality, entertaining imprint ever...

One of the real standouts for me has been Y: THE LAST MAN. I've been after the cover to #1 for a long time, so many, many thanks to Ryan Peters for remembering me when it was time to let it go:

A cool splash from PREACHER, with Jesse, Tulip, Cassidy, and Arseface:

Finally, now that the series is about to conclude, a page from 100 BULLETS #1 with the first meeting between Graves and Dizzy:

Just from a reading perspective, unrelated to art, a new Vertigo series I've really enjoyed reading is Brian Wood's NORTHLANDERS. Check it out!

Thanks all!

I really do believe Y will have a long life in tpb format, even if the series is now over (a la PREACHER and SANDMAN). It's the perfect gateway title for non-comics readers. Artwise, there's still a ton of great stuff that's never hit the market, including interiors from Pia Guerra and covers by Massimo Carnevale. The Carnevale covers, especially, I hope will become available. I've never seen one in person; I can only imagine how cool they are.

If it's any consolation Brett, you got further, I didn't even get a reply

Of all the modern Vertigo titles. I think James Jean and JG Jones made the most interesting and beautiful covers that attracted readers. Truly exceptional.

Regardless of the series popularity this is a beautiful cover, which just exudes comic art. A key cover to a modern and great acquisition Felix, you must be stoked.

Thanks again!

Massimo Carnevale has a blog where he sells his art. Unfortunately, he's never sold any Y covers and everyone I know who have asked him have always gotten shot down (including a crazy offer for the last cover, #60). I'd pretty much given up checking his blog.

Well thanks to frederic9494 and jesusjon for pointing out that he's starting to let some go:

Good luck to anyone who sees something they like. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll eventually sell one of the covers I've been after :wishluck:

Nice, very nice - and Northlanders is a good one.
