OT: Had my first surgery today

43 posts in this topic

Hey Casey,

My mother had hers taken out and she actually prior to the surgery had those pains for 2 years! :o

After she got it out, she was as good as new!

You'll be fine! ^^

John

Thanks, John. That is what I'm hoping.

Get well; take it easy for at least a week (I assume, since you're out already that it was a laproscopic procedure). Also, definitely follow what the doctors say and watch your diet.

:foryou:

Thanks. yes it was the laproscopic procedure.

Hey everybody,

Had my first surgery today. For the past few months, I've been dealing with some stomach ailments (GERD, nausea, bloating, etc.) and it has made my summer miserable. Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with an abnormal gallbladder and today I had the thing removed. The procedure took about three hours and have been at the hospital since 10 this morning (paperwork, testing and, of course, waiting). It was the first surgery i have ever had. Needless to say, I was very nervous. Thankfully the procedure went smoothly and, despite being in some pain have started the recovery.

Despite having a fairly miserable summer, this board and the people on it have always provided a nice escape from the dreary reality. So I just wanted to say thanks to al those here.

Casey

p.s. sorry for the off-topic but most of my friends post here. I hope the OT police will take it easy on me. :foryou:

Did you still make a days pay from work? Just wondering, thinking of your collection and all. :kidaround:

Seriously, I hope this cures the ailments the gallbladder was giving you Casey. :wishluck:

lol Thanks, Mike. God bless paid sick days.

Must have been a pretty bad gallbladder if it took 3 hours...I hope you get well soon.

I think the reason it took so long was because my family has a history of Malignant Hypothermia (MH) which has to do with our reactuon to anesthesia. So they had to be extra careful.

Unless you sold a kidney to raise funds for a major book purchase, I don't want to hear your crying. (tsk)

I hope you're doing well :foryou: Those pesky gallbladders don't have a good histroy in my family. Surgery is never fun - so sit back, relax, read some good comics and hope you heal up quick (thumbs u

The healing part might have come easier had you picked Wolvie for your avatar. lol
