2009 Goals

81 posts in this topic

Is it too early to start this thread? Now that I'm going to be collecting a paycheck again, I can be collecting comics again. So here goes:

Two main goals:

- Finish Sky Girl sub run in Jumbo Comics. 21 more, or 22 if you count issue 79 to prevent a gap in the run.

- Fill in 50% or more of Brave and Bold run. Of that, about half should be in the pre-hero issues. 56 total books to complete run, so 23 or more issues in 2009.

- Paul Dini SS

Secondary goals:

- More HG CGC Batmans between 263 and 300.

- More DC war, Fight Comics, and non-FH Matt Baker books.

And peripherally related: Buy some lowbrow (or pop surrealist) art.

Realistically though I think my 2009 goal is going to complete at least 60% of my all-flash run. And do some major damage to my detective comics runs.

Keys will be the real hard choices. Maybe a Hulk 181, upgrade my X-Men 94 and complete that run (94-current) in NM or better (should only be another 40 books). And kill off a bunch of minor keys

Yes it's too early...but I'll play :applause:

After getting sidetracked this year and spending the bulk of my play-money on original art I'll try and go after a few more comics in 2009...

Goals :

  • Complete JIM + Thor (up to #400)
  • Complete TOS + Iron Man (up to #400)
  • Complete Incredible Hulk (from # 102 to #550)
  • Complete Daredevil #1 - #100 (would actually want to do this in the next month or so)
  • Collect all GA and SA Batman Joker covers
  • Buy an EC Wally Wood 50's SF original art page

1. Sell as much of my comic book collection as possible

2. Buy only trades that I must read and buy only raws that I can CGC

3. Move remaining OA that doesn't fit my focus of last couple years

4. Focus 80% of my comics money on Kitson and Mahnke OA.

Quit being so picky and finish my National Comics run.

Quit being so picky and finish my Our Gang / Tom and Jerry run.

Sell 99% of the comics I have no love for.

Read what I already have bought, instead of trying to string

a set of 25-30 issues together thinking I'm going to be

seriously interested in the story line.

Firesale the remainder of my collection that I care nothing about anymore. Should be down to 4 boxes by then.

Continue the Mike Grell collection. (never ending)

Buy a mid to high grade copy of All Star Western #10 to complete my Jonah Hex collection.

Begin searching for Solomon Kane books.

1. Continue to work on getting SS of all my favorite creators

2. Get rid of some SS and blue label dupes

3. Get together the Bronze 1st appearances Registry set, the non-Key 60's #1 sets for Marvel and DC and the Bronze Charlton #1 Registry set.

4. Continue schizophrenically collecting Bronze and Silver slabs.
