You do realize that folding the book over like that is only going to weaken and further damage the spine, right?

I was going to say the same thing about folding and the spine.

 

To me, golden age books get looked at in the best light ... 6.5!

I was going for 7 , but 6.5 seems more likely.

 

As for the scan of the spine, don't sweat it.

It wasn't laid flat, but gently held open on top of the scanner with a sheet of white paper on top.
