I am thinking of getting my CGC 7.5 signed by eastman and hopefully laird as well. Do you guys have any thoughts on whether this would be worth it, or this really just personal preference?

I am a little worried that the case was tampered with, because the book inside does not seem like it has white pages and the the case does not seem extremely secure, though this may be because I have never owned a modern blue slab. Could this account for the difference? Is there anything I should check for to see if the case has been tampered with? I am just scared that I dropped $2000 on a counterfeit.

Couple things:

 

With the magazine slabs it's common for it not to be tight at the middle. The slab can be opened a tiny bit. Like to fit a flat side of a nickel for example. The thing to check for tampering is the actual 4 corners. Those need to be sealed tight and not opening.

 

If they pop they normally change from being clear to being white. So if someone popped it open and then reglued it, you see a color change if you know what to look for. The corners I can see in your scan look fine. Just check the lower corners. (thumbs u

 

Your cover has all the "tells" of a 1st print. So as long as your slab corners are ok I think you've got the real deal. Congrats!! (thumbs u (thumbs u

That's nice to hear. I guess I'm just looking for something wrong with a large purchase just to be careful. Any thoughts on pressing?

 

Pressing helps with non-color breaking creases. Or if the book is wavy. That's hard for us to tell from a scan, but easier for you to tell holding the book in hand.

 

When you lay the slab down flat, does the comic appear to be flat or is it wavy? If you look really close, do you see any non-color breaking creases? You can also pay for the graders notes, since they would list any non-color breaking creases.

Also: With regards to pressing....you might want to get the grader notes from the CGC. That'll tell you more specifically why it obtained the grade it did, and reveal any potentially reversible defects.
