I get what you're saying but the fact of the matter is that's still a 9k book whether the case is scatched or not.

Exactly - it can be re-holdered for a mere fraction of what the book is worth, if that's the case. I am not going to let a scratched case stand between me and a good sale!

Well, no, it didn't stop me either. But I'm not terribly excited about taking the chance of shipping the book coast to coast and back again to get it reholdered. Bad things happen to good comic books.

I get you Jeff, it is an eyesore to have a big scratch go accross the book you just paid mad cash for. If all thats available to a slab owner is to view the cover then I can understand wanting the case as clean as possible.

I guess the thing to do is ask if the case is cracked or scratched, and work around the sellers answer.

I think they need to invent edge bumpers to go around the slab, that way when clowns like my self drop them, they don't crack

I'd be more concerned with getting a slab from you with grease or blood on it...

I voted for the book but the case is becoming more and more important as it seems USPS is having trouble delivering the cases back to us. How bad would it be if you had a 9k book and sent it in to get reholdered and then had the PO lose it on the way back to you!

And, no one reads anything anymore. When you put "case is brand new, fresh from CGC", you still get "is the case scratched?", etc.

I get the same question & just want to say " the case is SO SCRATCHED UP you can't see the book inside" doh!

I'm going to start a new company; CGCSGC - Comic Guarantee Corporation Slab Guarantee Corporation. I really think slab grading is the next logical step in the evolution of this hobby.

Excellent idea.

Now get crackin' on designing a slab for the slab that will be scratch proof.

Being dissatisified because the slab isn't pristine is the height of anal retentiveness in my opinion...
