Comics Code, a dinosaur?

8 posts in this topic

In the latest Catwoman, #26, there's a scene where Holly and her girlfriend enjoy a friendly kiss after moving in together. Yup, two people of the same gender in a monogamous sexual relationship shacking up together without being married and kissing "on camera." How many violations of the comics code is this? Yet the book got the little stamp. Is it time to retire the Comics Code as a relic of the 1950s? Frank Miller's work in the 1980s started the Code's decline into history and Catwoman 26, IMHO, shows that it truly is a thing of the past.

Ian: I think that was in reference to the Preacher title...?

Yes, a new rating system is probably a good idea, especially if the publishers hope to get kids interested in comics again...

The videogame industry has a self-applied (self-regulating?) ratings system, and it seems to work fine...
