Killing Joke Pricing?

12 posts in this topic

If someone has a CURRENT Overstreet pricing for TKJ-1st-NM I would really appreciate it!

Ebay is not enough of an indicator, thanks to the economy, there is hardly ANY bidding going on there as far as TKJ is concerned.

Did the Dark Knight Movie have that much of an effect on pricing?

Thanks for your help!

9.6 in 2009 lowest was $16 highest is $100

9.8 - lowest $32, highest $125

9.9 - low $228, high $277

Two CGC 9.8's sold on this board for between $38-$45 (I know - I bought one) and a CGC SS 9.8 signed by Brian Bolland sold on here a few months ago for $165 shipped.

Why would you want old outdated pricing when you can have more accurate pricing from completed ebay auctions. Overstreet prices are based on the economy being fine and books selling at store, you know that copy that has been on the wall for 3 years finally sells prices.

edit- just searched Ebays completed auctions. There are more then enough to accurately judge the current market value. NM raw is $15-22 and CGC 9.8 is around $50. Seems like they are selling close to Overstreet raw.

I don't know why I've never gone for this book as a graded copy. I have about 7 raw copies, but if you can get a 9.8 for $50 I'll be looking soon enough.

a 10.0 of this book sold in the last ComicLink Focused Auction for over $1000.

I wonder if the buyer knew that there are 9 others?

The Killing Joke (CGC census)

CGC 10: 10 copies

CGC 9.9: 24 copies

CGC 9.8: 603 copies

CGC 9.6: 278 copies

Wow! That seems like quite a bit of high-grade copies. 603 CGC 9.8s?! 24 CGC 9.9s?

I have one of the 9.9s :cloud9:

Anyone know the print run of the first print? It seems with over 900 HG copies already on the census that it was very much a hoarded book. I remember when it came out that stores were limiting it to one or two per customer, but I still managed to buy 5-10 copies.

Killing Joke has the most CGC 9.9s and CGC 10s of all books from the 1980s.

Batman: The Cult #1 is second. (7 copies in CGC 10, 17 in CGC 9.9.)

Only Wolverine Limited Series #1, Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8,

and Wolverine Regular Series #1 have more CGC 9.8 copies on the census,

as far as books from the 1980s are concerned.
