MISSING ORIGINAL ART!

11 posts in this topic

On his way to Heroes Con 2009, professional inker and artist Derek Fridolfs' ENTIRE original art portfolio went missing in transit from the airport to the hotel. Calls to the taxi company have turned up nothing, and he's waiting for a case number from Charlotte PD.

More details have been posted in Derek's and Dustin Nguyen's DeviantArt journals:

If you see any of these pieces, please contact them immediately!

If you find yourself buying recent original pages of Detective or Superman/Batman that's by Dustin Nguyen and Derek Fridolfs, that wasn't sold to you BY Dustin or Derek themselves, please check with them first since neither of them uses a dealer or art rep.

I'm sorry to hear the art is missing. It happens all too often in our hobby that art and books seemingly disappear.

I hope for the art's safe return and hope this thread will aid in that goal.

Not to take away from the tragedy but in this case it was left in the trunk of a taxi. It wasn't stolen by someone with quick fingers at the show.

Still the end result was the same and I hope it is returned safely.

Yes, I am glad it was not reported as stolen in the intial thread. I have seen too many of those.

Right, missing can refer to lost or stolen but we tried to be clear wherever its been posted what happened, with the link to Derek's journal on it. In this case it was lost BUT the taxi people don't seem to be helping.

In either case, if any of the originals shown in that CAF gallery pop up for sale please let Derek or Dustin know.
