Too Many Forum Scams for Me!

355 posts in this topic

Exactly, and it's this recent "good sellers gone bad" phenomenon that's really disheartening, and remember folks, not every single scam is highlighted in the forum.

JC, out of the 4 people in the past few weeks that have been discussed in the probation thread, all 4 are repeat offenders. It's not like pillars of the sales community are taking people's money.

So now, what do you have?

(Just for the record for those wondering, JC does buy on the boards. I've sold to him before.)

You have comics????? I thought you were just here for the sig line porn.

Who has sig line porn?

I think the problem is not so much with the "newbie sellers" but seeing long-time members start to defraud their fellow board members.

There is a LOT of bad stuff going on behind closed PM doors, and due to most people's unwillingness to air dirty laundry/admit they got scammed, is never reported to the entire forum.

Some of it would literally turn your hair grey, if you have any or it's not already. :insane:

i wouldn't be surprised as to how many bad deals never come to light. but i know how many sweet deals i have made through pm's that never make the light of day either.

this as a whole is an issue but not "we need to tear it down and start from the beginning", for every one cap_freak there are vtcomics, roy the canadian guy, evilash, MedicAr, lebowski, Chainnball, skypinkblu, jonjesper (do i need to go on?) and hopefully i will gain the trust of everyone so i can be held in the same high regard as those mentioned.

so it sucks being on the receiving end of a steaming pile of mess, but it is just one of those things that happens no matter how vigilant you can be it will happen. we just have to make sure we call out those scammers and keep on them until it is made right.

just me and my thoughts on this

j

and i'm inching closer to 1k posts as well.

This place is not 100% safe by any means but seriously what online place is? The bar and standards here are set much higher then any other avenue. I would imagine that there is a good chance resolutions were made via PMs and never made public between sellers and buyers. But I would never state that there are many forum scams here (shrug)

Anytime money is involved, it's a whole new ballgame.

Well, if someone was one the list ONE time and they go on again, maybe that is two times too many, and they should be permanently banned from buying and selling.

One oops is okay. Two is going down the path of a pattern unless there is a really valid excuse that can be proved.

Now four times - that is just a slap in the face to forum members that we are okay with repeat behavior that can hurt the image of this board.

(shrug)

Another "one more chance and then I AM OUTTA HERE" thread from Joe_Collector.

Aren't you tired of announcing your intentions every six months?

Just go if you're going to go. I personally would not want to see you go, but don't act like a person_without_enough_empathy and throw up this sort of passive-aggressive whining about how your delicate sensibilities are too badly injured to ever go on

As many of you know, I've been here through thick and thin, have had my fair share of trolls and have dished out and taken a lot of abuse, but lately I'm really starting to wonder about this place.

It seems to be forum scam after forum scam, with no end in sight. Maybe it's the economy, but I'm a tad hesitant to do business on here anymore, and it feels like the reprobates are running the Marketplace. Ripping off buyers doesn't sit well with me, and it doesn't exactly fill me with a sense of "forum camaraderie".

If this blatant scamming continues, I can't see a reason to be part of this community any longer.

Trolls will cheer, most will shrug, but the base problem should still be disconcerting to most.

So I am NOT allowed to be a bit morally outraged at the type of :censored: that's been going on here lately? To tell the truth, when I read what CS pulled, with backup evidence from Filter... and THEN saw a forum member trying to RESELL these same boxes, it made my physically sick. I literally couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I admit I have pretty high ethical standards, especially when it comes to monetary transactions, and I cannot expect everyone to follow my lead when conducting business on here, but all this is way overboard.

Wow, you cut-n-paste that gem all by yourself. :roflmao:

I learned from you!

After all how many times have you posted "THANK GOD I DON'T BUY MODERNS ANYMORE"

You must have developed Repetitive Strain Injury from writing the same every day

Who is scamming whom? I haven't seen anything recently. Not saying it isn't happening, but just haven't seen it. (shrug)

Someone purchased many long boxes of books that were clearly identified as low grade and water damaged with multiple copies of each issue. Then he flipped them on here listed as higher grade, no more than 5 copies of a given book, and when asked if there were any water damaged books ahead of time he stated NO.

Here is where a few folks clarified what really happened before the sale.

Not to mention that he cherry-picked all the boxes, using those funds to pay off the purchase, then repacked up the remainder (at a $50 premium over his per-box cost) and sold those off as "unsearched" and "the same as I received them from Filter81".
