I hate to do this after so many positive buying transactions with other board members. I have to bring up my transaction with cheta42.

We agreed on $41.16 for Amazing Spider-man 298 in nm from this thread in Copper. A good deal if the book is in the grade mentioned.

ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8915576&fpart=1

I sent money through Paypal and received the book in today's mail. The book was packaged in bag and board and sandwiched in cardboard (pampers cardboard). It was shipped international in a padded mailer. I looked at the book closely and saw the back cover was full of creases (12 that I counted that break color) on that black back cover ASM 298 has. I contacted Alex thinking maybe he did not check the back cover before selling the book. Maybe its an honest mistake.

I ask for shipping to be covered back to him since clearly his item was not as listed. Instead I get accused of buyers remorse. What? over $40? Come on...

Do you really think I have the time to deal with this?

When I said I would escalate to the boards and through Paypal I got an instant refund. If nothing else I want inform the boards the grading was bad and that I was falsely accused.

Your book was refunded before you uttered any threats.

This is not a good start for you in my eyes on the boards.

Here are the stipulations in my sales thread

Returns accepted if item is not as described.

I will pay shipping if it is my fault.

Buyer pays shipping if they have sour grapes about the purchase.

Please read the last line.

There were pictures posted on the sales thread and I accepted your lower offer as a nice gesture to a new boardie.

You are off to a great start.

Good luck in the future.

Alex

Based on the scans, the comic is not as described. It's your fault, pay the return shipping.

The board has spoken and I will reissue another credit for the shipping as well.

I hope in the future instead of coming out "guns a blazing" you will have better tact in dealing with matters.

Deflecting blame and calling out other boardies, and quoting price points of deals you have made with them shows your immaturity and lack of skill with dealing with matters.

Please send me the postage receipt and I will pay it.

I would also ask that you delete these posts as well.

I would like to know why in 3 years only 67 posts and also, if you are selling on ebay, why don't you have a link to your sight like most boardies do who sell on ebay!?

The boards gives great exposure to people who sell on that forum .

Wow! You need to read what you write before posting. The problem was passing the blame and you continue to do so. You were wrong. The buyer was not.

eBay NM on the Boards!

You should have just offered to cover the return shipping from the start rather than claiming buyer's remorse. 2c

That would be admitting he was wrong. (shrug)

You know you would offer return shipping if you (mistakenly) overgraded a book. :baiting:

Obviously.

Hard to do when I sell mostly graded books. hm

I've paid return shipping for a cracked slab. Such is life.

He didn't come out "guns a blazing" - he contacted you first to resolve the issue just as he was supposed to do.

It was your refusal to accept responsibility for the over-grading and poor packing to moved him to bring the issue up here.

Granted, he posted in the wrong thread, and had he posed this in the form of a question it may have gone a bit better. But since it took 'the boards speaking' on the matter to finally move you to do the right thing, it would seem bringing this issue up in public was required in order for it to get resolved.

If you don't like being "called out" then perhaps you should be less accusatory of buyers who contact you with a legitimate issue.

Deflecting blame and calling out other boardies, and quoting price points of deals you have made with them shows your immaturity and lack of skill with dealing with matters.

"Deflecting blame"? Like accusing a buyer of having "buyers remorse" when the real problem is your over-grading and poor packing that caused the issue? And then using a loop-hole in your return policy to get out of accepting responsibility for the issue?

(Incidentally, you need to decide whether you have a return policy or not. The "buyers remorse" qualifier of which you're the sole arbitrator is a b.s. way of getting out of accepting returns.)

What in the world does his lack of a link to his eBay sales have to do with any of the issues that are being discussed?

So, because there's no link in his posts to his eBay sales, he must be doing something shady? I don't have a link in my posts to my eBay sales. Does that make me shady?

That's a really weak straw-man attempt to cast aspersions and again blame the buyer.

You've repeatedly remonstrated the buyer for how bad he's behaving. To be frank, you're not coming off so good yourself.

You've listed books I would be interested in, but based on your picture taking skills, over-grading, poor packing and hostile customer service, I wouldn't buy from you.

Maybe a little less finger-wagging and bit more introspection is called for.

Thank you all for your support. I am glad that we came to a reasonable solution. I will re package the book and ship back to cheta42 in today's mail. This is the way the book was packaged to travel from Canada to California.

p><p> well you called him out for buyers regret returning, so he

I didnt read it as accusation, just documentation.

David,

I have sent several books to California and never with any issue.

What are you trying to prove at this point.

You have been the only person I have ever had an issue with on these boards.

By calling out fellow boardies and the way you carry yourself will be rewarded in spades.

Was the book damaged because of the packing!?

Are you now making other accusations?

For what it's worth, many people on these boards watch very closely how buyers and sellers interact with each other and make decisions on whether to buy from or sell to various people based on those interactions.

Continuing to respond in this manner has, I'm sure, already resulted in you being added to many boardie's personal "do not deal with" lists.

any (just a suggestion) maybe in the future instead of passively or directly accusing buyers of doing remorse returns (when the book is obviously overgraded), you admit (even just to yourself) that you overgraded a book (or just missed looking at the back of the book during your grading) and issue the refund without the judgement on the buyer? (which I think started the buyer down the path of raising the issue here)

I do agree the buyer could have taken it down a notch, but he wouldn't be the first guy on the internet to get defensive too quickly (and assume he was being attacked on all fronts), even when he was in the right...

How about just posting if there is an issue?

There's really no need to have this many updates in the thread. :whatev:
