DTA Collectibles rare items for sale

38 posts in this topic

I received an enail form DTA Collectibles that I wanted to pass along to you all. Some interesting items:

"Invitation to a Rare Event

We are delighted to announce a remarkable opportunity to add some

extraordinary items to your collection.

For a limited time, an older gentleman with a world class collection is

willing to part with some of the most impressive items in our field. Some of

his pieces have not changed hands in over 40 years.

He is looking to raise a limited amount of cash, so before long these items

will become unavailable to us. We do not intend to sell every item on this

list.

Since our consignor is not setting any prices at this time, please feel free

to forward any serious offers to DTA. Scans of specific items will be sent

upon request to anyone seriously interested in purchasing.

We look forward to hearing from you, and wish to emphasize that this truly

is an exceptional opportunity, currently available only through DTA.

_Funnies on Parade CGC 8.0 Best Known 1933_

Considered by many to be the first comic book ever issued in the "modern

newsstand format." Well over 100,000 different comics have since been issued

in this basic style - and yet this has been acknowledged as the first. Our

consignor's example is the highest graded unrestored CGC-graded. If you want

the best of the first, this is it.

_Golden Age Original Art Story - Unique 1950, Complete 8 Page Story_

This tale was originally entitled "You Only Live Once!" and was intended for

Ellery Queen (as a mystery/horror tale). Ellery's title was cancelled before

this finished story was published, however, leaving the Iger Studio with an

unusable story - or was it? Cleverly, the story was slightly redone as "You

Only Love Once!," and thanks to the magic of some select overlays, the

mystery/horror story intended for Ellery appeared instead as a romance in

"Our Secret." An amazing and nearly unique insight into the minds of Golden

Age comic book creators. Many of the overlays are still present (some with

discolorations from editor's glue). Attractive and historic.

_Horror Movie Pressbooks - The Raven and the Pit & The Pendulum 1961-1963_

Two of the best horror movies of their era. Both star Vincent Price, while

The Raven also features Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre. Superb uncut folded

condition, both are large and appear unused, both suitable for framing.

Extremely rare.

Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil and Thor are featured on the box front. Unopened

in the original shrink-wrap. Our consignor bought this when it was brand new

42 years ago. Just taken out of long-term climate-controlled storage. A

virtually perfect example of one of the earliest Marvel character items.

_New Adventure Comics #12_

Has 1937 debut of Siegel & Shuster's Jor-L. Stunning example with slight

professional glue restoration on spine. The historic DC "Adventure" title

began with this book.

_Spectre #1 p1 Original Art Splash Page by Murphy Anderson 1967_

One of the foremost comic artists of both the Golden and Silver Ages was

chosen to draw the first ever page from The Spectre's first title.

Extraordinarily clean and dynamic, 10" x 15". A true museum piece. Signed by

Murphy as an integral part of the page's brilliant composition.

The above items are ones DTA has personally inspected and can send scans of

immediately.

Our same consignor also has many other rare items in

environmentally-controlled storage. He would be willing to try to locate and

photograph them when a DTA customer makes a serious offer:

editor. Extraordinary piece of history, from the artist's personal files.

_Playboy Magazine - An Employee Set_

From about 1959-1972 IN ORIGINAL PLAYBOY BINDERS. SOLD AS COMPLETE 1960s. A

friend of the consignor's father worked at Playboy in the Chicago

headquarters from the 1950s until he moved to California with Hef in the

1970s. Each monthly issue was saved and put into the famed Playboy binders

(the ones advertised in Playboy magazine). The earlier issues are somewhat

heavily used due to extensive research, while the later issues were never on

a newsstand and look virtually untouched. Many are among the finest examples

of their issue surviving. Issues are all removable from these binders.

Stole my money for catalogs then ignored my follow-up emails. He did cash the check though.

He also allegedly forged Church copies to make comics look like they are from one of the greatest Pedigree finds of all time.

He did? Where's that thread, would like to know more about that.

I forgot to say "allegedy". Would you please edit it into your post?

It's been mentioned a couple of times on here.

I_Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Complete Set of 8 Glasses 1930s_

Classic and extremely impressive imagery. Superb condition. Rare as a

Common as dirt.

Unless, it's an odd two color set or musical notes set, then you might want to call them challenging. The only rare set of Snow White glasses out there from the 1930's has decals on them. I doubt these are them. I feel bad for anyone that makes an offer sight unseen.

Don't remember hearing that one, interesting. Man seems like 90% of all old school dealers has one nasty scenario like this associated with them.
