IT WAS FRAUD - Add seller to your "Do Not Buy From" List - re: ASM #20 on ebay

33 posts in this topic

I just picked up ASM #20 in GCC 7.0 for $125 (GPA = $300)

When you see the auction you will see why it went so low.

Note to seller:

1. take a photo of the actual slab, not stock photos (they use stock photos for the raw comics they were selling too)

2. make it clear this is NOT a raw copy (I had to email them just to verify this)

3. write a few words in the auction

4. don't end the auction at 5 AM EST

So much info!! I can't process it all! :screwy:

:signfunny:

I had to email him just to make sure it was actualy slabbed.

Not him suggesting I might try slabbing it and maybe gettng a 7.0

His other auctions were for a bunch of very low grade overpriced raw silver ASM with stock photos. I doubt any of them got a bid.

He has ZERO feedback as a seller.

Given that fact and his user name, I would be surprised if he actually has the book.

Sounds like you are proceeding with caution, which is definitely a wise move in this case. (thumbs u

yeah, I'm gonna grill him with questions before he gets any $$$

But you had to see his other auctions on raw comics, they were definitely NOT the way to commit fraud

He advertised his raw comics are POOR, FAIR, etc. With stock photos and prices so high nobody would bid (i.e. $100 for a FAIR copy of ASM #28 was one of them I think)

That name, it's amazing what you can get away with. I saw an episode of Robot Chicken entitled "Boo Cocky," and one of the guys that does voices for The Venture Brothers cartoon is "named" Paul Boocock.

+1

My first reaction when I clicked the auction page was to check the guy's feedback. I flinched a bit and thought I should shout a warning to you, but then I saw that you're already prepared to take all the necessary "safety measures", so (thumbs u

I see that if $100 stock photo comics are not risky enough for you, he also has some $3,000.00 stock photo diamond rings he can sell you. :roflmao:

Let us know how this turns out.

Update:

I asked for a photo of the actual slab and it was provided to me

The serial number was too small to see on the slab so I asked for the serial number

I have now been emailed the serial number

Tomorrow I call CGC and see if the serial number matches up as it should

If it does, I am confident the seller actually owns this book
