Double Action Comics #1

11 posts in this topic

I know it has been discussed to death but

where did Ian levine actually get the ghoul cover

was it determined to be an authentic original art cover

for double action 1

cause dc typically used unrelated interiors for there covers

just does not seem like they would use that for the cover

some threads back someone said bob overstreet and someone

else I can't remember saw the double action 1 ashcan

has that been confirmed

I believe it would have been made between sept 39 and nov 39

cause #2 was test marketed Jan 1940 dc's ashcan typically 4 to 6

months prior to actual release

stay tuned to a real good mock up that I believe would be more

true to what it would have actually looked like

No

and I do apologize for misleading the boards back then

with batman ashcan

that double action 1 in my opinion is very poorly drawn

and I do not believe that is what dc would have put on cover

any who I love making mockups for fun

but seriously bob and some one else stated somewhere that they

have seen the double action 1

just can not remember where I read if

when bob has been asked did he answer yes it exists or no

simply and this would end debate

2 copies black and white cover covered interior consitent with

other dc ashcans

I have made 2 mock ups 1 color 1 black and white

Have we discovered what dealer originally purchased the Double Actions?

And do we know what else was with the Double Actions? (I assume there were more books with them and it would be nice to know what else was in the collection. And if there were multiple copies of other books or just the Double Actions #2 and the rumored Ashcan #1)

I asked Ian a couple years ago about it. Here's the reply I got:

"Matt Nelson made about five for me.

They're accurate in every detail - original cover art and Doctor Occult reprints inside.

The problem is they cost $500 to have made specially. That's without charging a penny profit on the top.

I still have one spare left. "

He offered the spare copy to me for $700. Not sure if he ever sold it or still has it.
