fantastic_four
I consider this book undervalued at mid-grade and expect even low grades to be in the AF15 range in a few years.thoughts? If you mean X-Men #1 lags behind AF15 and in a few years will be at the same levels AF15 is today, then yea, it probably will, although AF15 will have gone up itself by then. If you mean X-Men #1 will catch up to AF15 and be worth the same as whatever it's worth in a few years, then no, definitely not. Spidey is far more popular than Professor X, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman, Angel, Magneto, or the 1960s X-Men team as a whole. That specific set of characters is quite the opposite of popular, it's one of the least popular comics that Stan Lee created, one of the few superhero titles he started after Fantastic Four that eventually got cancelled. The X-Men wasn't a popular title until 1975 and Wolverine joined. Some of that success has translated back on the title to make X-Men #1 more valuable, but it never all will, it translates more into Hulk 181 and GS X-Men #1 being more sought after. The prices of those books will never approach the Silver keys though given the comparatively massive populations of those Bronze books on the market. Marvelfangirl
I really don't see X-Men #1 surpassing AF #15 in value and popularly anytime soon

Mr. 10%
I dont think X1 will surpass She Hulk #43 .... ever ! Seriously ... the importance of these early X-books lies not in what originally happened back in the day or in what got cancelled and what not. What happens for the time being is that this X-team is bathing in worldwide exposure. I dont know why - but the movies are apparently being enjoyed by an ordians way broader than what could initially have been expected. These current events will obviously reflect back on how these old 1960ies X-books will be valued and eventually drooled over by many (especially the 11 first Kirby books - nos 1-11 ). nmtg9
Well I see X-Men 1 just above DD1 and Sgt. Fury 1. The old team, as much as I love em, are not that popular - Phoenix's first appearance is more important than Marvel Girls first. I agree Magneto is more popular than Cyclops to the wider public, mainly thanks to their portrayals in the movies. Cyclops was an insufficiently_thoughtful_person and Magneto played by an actor who brought gravitas. Hence the reason we are gonna see Origins for Magneto but not Cyclops. Marvelfangirl
The sad thing is that if my generation had to pick between X-Men #1 and GSX #1 they would pick GSX #1 hands down b/c of the new characters and the value of the book
ComicConnoisseur
To clarify I think X-men 1 low to mid-grade in a few years will approach what AF 15 goes for now but of course by then AF 15 numbers will be even higher.

etanick
a greggy bump ? I look forward for the dinner get together at SDCC (thumbs u finally got around to scan the recent arrival as you can see, the flaw that kept this book out from any higher grades ever is the soft bottom right corner and the 1/3" hairline color loss scratch on the same corner....not a crease at all. The rest of the book beside the one color loss tick by Magneto's cape is near flawless This will stay in the vault for as long as I am passionate about my collection. here is the only scan I have left of my old 8.5 that I kept for almost 7 years, the scan cut off the flaw on the bottom left corner (color loss rub like the top corner...smaller) and a 1/4" corner color breaking crease on the bottom right.
