thedude
that 4.5 on Ebay is just an outlier as far as I am concern..I am sure if the winner is is aware of the 4.5 on CL today, he will throw up in his mouth. http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fsearch%2Easp%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Dx%2Dmen%26x%3D19%26y%3D10%26ItemType%3DCB%26pg%3D2%23Item%5F881924&id=881924 it makes me wanna throw up, I sold my 5.0 copy last year for just $1,750. At least it's in a good home. don't get me wrong, I'm happy for ya, it was a good boardie transaction all around, just shows how prices can change in a short amount of time. Dark Knight
The Pedigree Comics CGC 9.4 X-Men #1 (White Pages) ended at $127,000 reserve not met Very surprised by that! Would have been a record price if reserve was met.. Explain?
scooter99
Inexplicable. Am I jaded enough to think that the book was in the auction to "get fannies in the seats" with an out of touch reserve?
DCman
Inexplicable. Am I jaded enough to think that the book was in the auction to "get fannies in the seats" with an out of touch reserve? I would say at least half of the books in the Pedigree auction ended with no bids or not meeting reserve. I'm too lazy to go through all the pages, but I'd be curious of what percent actually sold. I have a handful of books that i didnt bid on last night that didnt hit freaking reserve for the 4th auction in a row! Every damn one i bid over GPA the last 3 auctions and still didnt hit reserve. Then you get the email the next day saying the seller will sell it for XXX which ends up being about double GPA I've all but given up bidding in the Pedigree auctions! 127k for the X-men and it didnt hit reserve? That ridiculous imo. Yeah, a buyer can ask whatever they want but when the reserve is THAT high, just put the freaking thing on Clinks marketplace with whatever crazy number you want instead of wasting everyones time Edited May 18, 2011 by sufunk

I just went thru it. 324 of 595 books didnt sell. 54.4% didnt hit reserve or no bids because the starting bid was so damn high. I know ive argued about this with Doug and can somewhat understand his "this isnt Comiclink where books sell for pennies on the dollar" argument but it just doesnt seem like a good business model to me when you allow reserves to be set so freaking high that over 54% of the books dont sell

Just list them in the market place or on eBay. Silly
Mr. 10%
This is only 1 of a few reasons I haven't and wouldn't bother with Pedigree Auctions. I once ordered four slabbed SA books with Pedigree. The arrived to me sent in a USPS box designed for max. three slabs. Obviously one of the books had damage done to the holder during transit. Doug agreed to pay the reholder fee with cgc. But he insisted that I payed the transatlantic shipping from Europe to the US. In my opinion an unfair claim since the situation necessitating a reholdering of the book was a consequence of a fault on Dougs behalf - not mine. CrocHntr
Well...today I've officially joined the club. I probably paid a little much for it, but I think it looks pretty darn good for a 6.5 (photo glare not withstanding)... I'm sure it's posted somewhere, but how the heck do you guys get good photos of your CGC encapsulated comics? I can't seem to get the knack of it. sufunk
Very, VERY nice!!! For a guy that posts less in 8 years than I do in a day, you damn sure made that post count! Congrats dude! The upper left corner is pretty worn but I have to agree with you that that is a wicked looking 6.5! That looks nicer than the few 7.0 slabs I have. If you don't mind me asking, where'd you get it? Thanks. The X-Men #1 has been near the top of my want list for a long, long time, so it's nice to finally own a copy. I actually purchased it via the Comiclink auction last week. I ended up paying $4,167 for it which is certainly more than I expected to pay for a 6.5 copy. But now that I have it, I think it displays well for a 6.5 and it is certainly worth it to me. Now I have to start plotting my next "must have" title/issue. I could get used to this
sufunk
Thats not a bad price at all. The last 3 sold for $4250, $3585 and $4601. As nice as your 6.5 looks, its gotta look much more like the $4600 and $4250 copy than the $3600 copy if you ask me. You can never pay too much for a nice X-Men 1 in my book (thumbs u
