Mike Lilly Sketch Cover Opportunity

418 posts in this topic

The answers to your question is

-Authentication.

-Some people only collect CGC stuff. (Myself included)

-The case helps protect your artwork.

Lets try to keep this thread focused about the artwork. Thanks!

Sorry, I wasn't trying to derail the thread. I was just giving a well intended suggestion because some people, such as myself, appreciate the art and are also concerned with the grade of the comic it's on.

Aside from that you know how much I admire Lilly's work.

In reality, sketch covers should be graded NG. The main reason for them to be graded is the authentication of the art. The same as sketches on backing boards. The focus should be on the art and not the grade, but unfortunately the grade does impact the appeal of the final sketch.

Stuart Sayger did some neat things with a couple of sketch covers in Philly, and because of it, CGC will slaughter the grade. Again, perfect candidates for the NG designation.

the main reason for them to be graded instead of NG is $27 vs $15

big sticker to put over the grade, problem solved (thumbs u

Otherwise get the sketch on a backboard for the $15 option

Starting to find out that some artists like to work on certain mediums & decline to sketch on certain things

I have to get the book relabeled. It is supposed to read "Signed and Pencil Sketch by Joe Simon, Sketch and Paints by Mike Lilly."

Bottom line this book is an 8.0............believe me I do not care at all about that grade.

Enchantress

and small Thor hammer on the back.

Nice Enchantress chew. This goes to show if you turn the smudge on the back into a mini sketch it gets a 9.8

I felt like that too before I got my first Mike Lilly sketch, his Art is Fantastic. If you are interested in purchasing a sketch from M. Lilly pm NYcomics regarding future home commissions. Or look for M. Lilly at conventions. I believe he is attending Baltimore's comic convention in August.
