Schmell is selling off his FF #1 CGC 9.4?

67 posts in this topic

It appears that he's also got his copy of #6 CGC 9.6 in there too.

Used to be my copy. :(

I've heard. :gossip:

Sold too soon, and as it turns out, way too cheap. :(

Your Uncle Scrooge made up for it. :shy:

I prefer to dwell on my failures rather than my successes. Keeps me meaner.

I should add that the FF #6 is flat out gorgeous.

Wasn't it Cr-OW? Junk. :baiting:

I bet soon after the auction there will be a new 9.6 on the census...and in Doug's registry set.

You can pretty much guarantee that Doug has an upgrade of some sort if he's letting go of books like that.

Or maybe he has another 1 of the 4 copies that is a stronger 9.4? Your right, FF is his favorite run so I doubt he is unloading without a replacement.

Pretty good intelligence on a "mere" SA Marvel! :baiting:

Of course, that was on an old label book. Which means it could be a white pager today! lol

is that actually Dougs copy? I thought he had the 9.6/

Brulato has it right?

I believe Brulato swapped his 9.4 + cash for Doug's 9.6 a few years ago.

Couldn't have been that long ago as I remember it being on his site with a 500K asking price (maybe a couple of years ago?)

There was a thread either in General or here about it. I'm pretty sure it was at least a year ago.

Looks like Schmell indicated to Scoop he's selling his FF #1 CGC 9.4:

A shocking price for such an FF1 may be possible, given how some well-pocketed folk are more nostalgic for FF than most people realize. As far back as Marvelmania goes FF 1 was talked about as the "beginning of it all." As Marvel's 2nd and 3rd tier heroes become movie stars along with Spider-man, and as Marvel itself becomes more and more of a household word than DC itself ever was, the issue and the series that started it all solidifies its place as meaningful nd collectible.

There are lots more FF1s than Action 1s or Tec 27s, so the top condition game is a whole other thing. Considering that getting "any" copy of FF1 or any marvel comic is still many times more possible than getting any copy of tec 27, it's all the more impressive when a copy sells for five figures, let alone six. If one manages to hit mid six figures, it will be a big event.

I'm pretty sure the 500K copy was Doug's old 9.6 that Brulato ended up with....but that price was VERY aggressive at the time. GOD BLESS...

141K + with X hours to go

(I say X because I am too lazy to go to the site again and note how many hours are left)
