Third Annual March Madness Grading Tournament

72 posts in this topic

Well, it’s that time of year again. Winter is supposedly nearing an end, the air is losing its frosty bite (at least around here it is), and an epidemic is sweeping the country. Pulses race, heads start aching, and fevers rise as we catch the disease caused by – no, not H1N1- the onset of MARCH MADNESS!! :kidaround:

I haven't been around much this year, but still wanted to continue this tradition. This will be the third annual tournament, won last year by Sckao. (worship)(worship) (See last years’ bracket below for the results). You can also click on the banner below to view last year’s finals thread.

Post in this thread if you are interested in playing; everyone is welcome. (even if your name is Ceasarachi). The format is the same as the National College Basketball Tournament. This is how it will work in a nutshell: There will be a seeding round where books will be posted for grading, and a won loss record will be determined based on how successful each player is at grading the books. After determining each player’s won loss record, players will be paired in brackets in a single elimination tournament. Pairings will be based on a convoluted, seemingly irrational combination of geographic location and won loss record (Just like the real thing!). :pullhair::insane:

I’ll start a separate thread in a few days to get the seating round kicked off. In the mean time I’ll be feverishly scanning and answering any questions anyone may have. And yes, trash talking is allowed, and even encouraged, in all the MMGT threads! :slapfight:

Oh yeah, can’t forget the important stuff.

A prize list will be developed during the tournament. Donations are welcome and I will donate the initial four and match each price until we get to 16. There were some great ones donated last year! The top teams will pick from the list at the conclusion of the tournament.
