Blazing Bob helps me break 100,000

92 posts in this topic

While not overly concerned about Registry Points I have been waiting for the day when they would roll over 100,000 for me. I guess its a bit like watching your odometer in your car roll over 100,000 (I recall doing that as kid twice and it seemed like a big deal then)

Thanks to Blazing Bob accepting my offer on an Amazing Spiderman #3 CGC 8.0 I am finally over the hump

While most of my collection is not slabbed I feel rolling over this level gives it some legitimacy. I know it is no where near the collection of some of the big boys but for me this is an accomplishment given I got back into buying back issues and picked up my first slab 3 or 4 years ago after having taken a couple years break from back issue purchases in my first couple years living in Hong Kong.

I just wanted to share this with people who'd understand my happiness at the accomplishment as I told my wife whose response was "not interested".

Hey Roy, this thread doesn't say "Roy Delic Helps me break 10,000".

Shouldn't you be trying to buy some books from Metropolis?

lol

Congrats David.

100,000 points represents a lot of quality slabs. If you have a lot more raw books than your collection must be pretty amazing. It would be nice to see some scans of your favorite books in this thread and I'm wondering who you've bought the majority of your books from.

While not overly concerned about Registry Points...

And you care so little you felt the need to start a new forum thread about it... meh

Maybe I should start all my posts with, "While not overly concerned if mealy-mouthed brats invest their parent's retirement savings on Modern comics".

A temporary derail of this thread to ask a related question:

I was just looking at the list of total registry points, and most of the names in the top 20 were well known to me and no big surprise. The only one that I didn't recognize was "Bumchex". He/she has the third highest total points in the registry: 876,370. But he only has one registry set: TEC 1-500.

So he's in third place overall, but only has 49 registered comics, all TECs. In fact, close to half his points (340,000) come from only TWO books: TEC #2 and #29.

Yeah, that TEC #29 CGC 9.6 sounds pretty special, but am I the only one who thinks that the points system might be a little lopsided here?

(And who is Bumchex, anyway?)
