Star Wars Production Art

12 posts in this topic

I just picked up a couple of production drawings (and, being the anal retentive I am, matched them up with their screen caps) from the Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack) 2-D Star Wars Clone Wars series (2003).

If you're a star wars fan, the series is definitely worth a look. The DVDs are out of print, but you can still pick them up at most used places. - Keith

Those are all outstanding! I love the Qui-Gon and Grievous art.

And you're right. I prefer Tartakovsky's Clone Wars to the CGI version.

:)

Thanks! I keep buying copies of the DVDs when I find them used to give away. It's a great series. I've got another grevious piece coming... :)

Ron Cobb stuff? Or did he just work on Alien?

Cobb worked in the art department for A New Hope, but started midway through production and worked mainly on creatures (as far as I know). Good guess though!

This one is Johnston and he put it in the book he compiled in '77 (The Star Wars Sketchbook) - I've got a scan of it with the piece here:

Cobb worked on some amazing stuff though -- A New Hope/Aliens/Raiders/Aliens/Abyss/Total Recall and a ton of others. - Keith

Just added several more pieces of production art from the Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack) Clone Wars series, including this obscure one of Anakin with his Nelvaan tribal tattoos:
