Scarcity of Hulk #1

21 posts in this topic

Hi all,

What is everyone's "guesstimate" of how many Hulk #1's that were printed. Out of the Marvel keys that I've seen over the years, it seems to be scarcer than the other keys.

Thanks for your input in advance.

Don't know the print numbers for that book.

You are correct that it is less common than a majority of the other Marvel keys. After reading #1 (for the first time), just yesterday actually, I can only speculate that the reason Hulk #1 is less common is that it was not very good.

Kids tossed that poo-poo into the garbage can. Haven't read #2-6, but I'd guess a similar fate. It's why they threw him into TTA. Hulk couldn't carry a book on his own.

I've spoken to people who bought it off the stands and yes, it wasn't very well received. They wouldn't have killed it after 6 issues if it was a runaway hit.

That and the dark, brittle cover inks keeping the book from out of high grades.

It's such a huge number that it's not worth estimating number printed. The book's not scarce, except in high grade.
