Advantages to Scanning?

I noticed some people mention that they scan every single one of their comics. What are the advantages to this? Is it for insurance reasons?

Yes, and also to support any eventual sale. May as well scan 'em on the way in and have them available to enjoy online while at work or wherever. The ones I keep in a safety deposit box I scan front and back, the rest are just front.

Depends on your insurance. CIA asked me if I had scans of my more expensive books, and I directed them to where they can see them online.

What good do scans do? You can get them online for other people's books if you lack ones of your own.

I scan them and add them to a database. I can view front and back covers of all my books whenever I want from anywhere. I have all kinds of info on each book such as who the seller was, purchase date, price, grade, serial numbers etc.

 

I'm sure I have more than enough info to satisfy any insurance company

Thanks for your input. Maybe if something was added onto the scan bed along with every comic you scan? Like your signature on a piece of paper?
