collecting software recomendations?

I use Excel, plain and simple. Kind of a bare-bones approach, but it serves my needs nicely, and building value graphs reflecting price guide shifts over multiple years, for individual books or entire title runs, or just books in a given condition, is quite entertaining and informative in some cases...

Ditto Excel for one reason: portability. I picked up a Dell Axim [plug] for the specific purpose of keeping my collection on it, so I can refer to it at shows and LCSs. Prior to that (years ago), I had a plastic box of 4x6 index cards, one card per title, 15 issues per row.

 

As my collection grew, so did my backache, lugging my stupid "database" around.
