For all those that would like an update, Darwyn indeed was not sketching at Dragon Con, however if you walked up at the exact right moment as I did and saw him doing a quick sketch and asked if he wouldn't mind doing the same in your sketchbook that seemed to work :) Got a nice few lines that turned into a Green Lantern.

Plus, McKone was charging $25 at the Hero Initiative Booth and I got a fat Sharpie Starfire. In all I got the following added to my new sketchbook:

J.Scott Campbell quicksketch - Fairchild (I was 13th on the sketchlist and he ran out of time so he did it as a "sorry, get you next time")

Amanda Conner quicksketch - Powergirl (purchased her sketchbook and love that woman, she gave me my very first sketch)

Jimmy Palmiotti quicksketch - Jonah Hex

Chris Moreno - a farmer in a pig mask quicksketch (from a series he just finished)

Karl Story - Alien quicksketch

Tom Fiester - Robin the boy wonder quicksketch. Tom is an awesome guy that is great to talk to.

Phil Noto - Hal Jordan quicksketch - I also picked up a sweet commission piece of Fairchild from him. Had no idea he was even going to be there.

David Mack - Kabuki quicksketch - how that is a quicksketch in ink like that I will never know but it is unbelievable.

and Koi Turnbull did a Fathom head commission as well. I wasn't really familiar with Koi but after I browsed his table I knew I wanted to at least get a sample of his work in my sketchbook.

Next year is Dragon Con's 25th anniversary so I'm betting they pull out all the stops for it. Can't wait to see who's there!

Oh, and FYI, I am picking up a Neal Adams CGC SS of Green Lantern 85 and a Fantastic Four 122 Stan Lee from this show that the guys are taking care of for me. Thanks guys for all the help! This was a SUPER SHOW!

Instead of adding another thread, here's a quick con report with some pics.

We drove out Thursday night in the hopes of picking up our badges during the pre-registration badge pickup that was scheduled from 4-10pm. We arrived at 9pm, parked, and walked to the line only to find that the line had been capped at 7pm or so. EvilAsh, ffcomics, and Lebowski told me they were in line for 4.5 hours to get theirs earlier in the day. Pre-registration numbers alone were estimated to be 20,000...let alone all the on-site purchases. :o The line for badges last year was pretty bad too (2.5 hours). So we came back on Friday morning about an hour before they started badge pickup and the line was already wrapped around the block....literally.

Once we got inside, the badge pickup area was pretty warm and crowded. There was even a beach ball going around the crowd until someone hit the chandelier. Security didn't much appreciate that.

When you get to the front of the line, they sort you by last name. Did you know that "A" is apparently 4x more popular than any other letter?

We got out and the line looked just as long as when we started:

But we finally got our badges:

Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of pictures of us during the show. Like someone already said, we had nearly 400 books to take care of. There was barely any downtime during the day. For those who don't know, Dragon Con is split among 5 different hotels. The media guests and the comic guests are pretty far from each other, so we had to work on each group exclusively. We did the comic guests the first day and opted to get the media guests during the Saturday morning parade. The Walk of Fame (media guest area) was relatively easy early in the morning, but as soon as the parade let out, it was PACKED!

One shot that was snapped was of the customer Stan Lee books right after they were signed.

On Saturday night, there was a makeshift forum dinner that was thrown together at the last minute. Here's a similar shot to what was posted earlier. Good times.

During the last day of the show, apparently 2 of the elevators at the hotel had fires that started due to overuse/overload. This happened right out checkout time, so they closed the elevators completely for about 30 minutes and then after that they were only using 6 out of the 8 of them. Needless to say, the stairwells were getting some use yesterday morning. Pain in the neck when you have to get your stuff off the 11th floor. :ohnoez:

Finally, Dragon Con is easily the most costume-intensive show I've ever been to. On Sunday night, I had about an hour to kill, so I went around and grabbed some photos. I saw all these costumes in 1 of the 5 hotels in less than an hour...just to give you an idea. These pics will wrap up my con report. Detailed completion status will be sent out via PM, but we got over 98% of the books signed. (thumbs u
