I'm not sure anyone mentioned it yet, but Ethan Van Sciver was a no-show and if Paul Jenkins was there, I didn't see him.

Paul Jenkins was walking the floor with his family on Sunday.

Some unexpected attendees:

Stephane Roux

Koi Turnbull

Peter Steigerwald (sp?)

Scott Allie

Don Hillsman III

A couple notes: Kelley Jones was having a blast at the show. He's

considering to attend a few more conventions in the future. 8 - 10 years

between conventions is a little too long. Shag enjoyed himself. He normally

only does gallery shows and rarely attends conventions.

I could only attend day #1 - here's a REPORT

It was packed - 40,000+ people in ballrooms & hotel lobbies.

The ticket line on Thursday (advance passes) was 3+ hours.

Of course costumes are a big part.

The most CREATIVE was a girl as Jayne Cobb's hat (yes, a 5-foot tall hat).

The most REALISTIC was a Dr.Who (tenth doctor) - looked near perfect.

The most FUN was a dude dressed as a padded chair. If you went to sit in him, he grabbed you.

Here's a few random costume pics -

I wish i took more, but i kept forgeting -

The best part is seeing a costume in the mall food court, or MARTA transportation, or in the bathroom.

There were way too many of the same costumes -

i musta seen 4 different "Mad Hatters," and a half dozen Jayne Cobbs.

And I'm sick of " in the box" < get a new costume.

I spent my time in Artist's Alley, but i had to check out Stan Lee's line.

Same with J.Scott Campbell - nice to see him, but couldn't spend time in line.

Other people I couldn't aford that day are: Oliver Copiel (I think he wanted $150+)

People that weren't set up, or i couldn't find: Paul Dini, Mark Bagley, Jason Peterson, & Tariq Hassan.

NOW, On to some good friends -

FIRST person of the day was Mige Mignola.

Met him last year, but was too busy for sketches.

I thought if I was 1st in line, he'd hook me up.

d003.jpg

Thanks, MIKE!

Next to him was Tim Sale.

d019.jpg

He was doing what he called "15-minute ink washes" for like $150.

As a poor fanboy, i settled for this ...

d036.jpg

Who'se cooler than R.Owens and D.Vasquez?

d023.jpg

d028.jpg

Both had SUPER personalities & art to show off.

Walking around, i always like talking to Phil Noto -

He gave me a Danger Girl -

d026.jpg

d034.jpg

Darwyn Cooke was a busy boy - but squeezed me in for this -

d037.jpg

Kelly Jones is iconic on some of his Batman books -

I told him i like Batman villains, and he drew me a Scarecrow -

d025.jpg

d035.jpg

And no DRAGONCON would be right without a stop by Bob Burden -

d032.jpg

... Well, i wish i had more time & money, but i was called home.

I picked up one Georges J. page from Gambit -

... Again, a super show.

I don't know how WIZARD WORLD ATL will compete in December.

I saw Allison Sohn talking to several of the artist's in the artist alley on Sunday. I couldn't find Adam Hughes anywhere but I heard he was there. I totally forgot to congratulate her
