I agree some stuff seems senseless, like Karen falling asleep almost "immediately" after she'd checked in on a noise. However, this can be chalked up to the pace on TV being faster than real time; they have to speed things up. He's worked on the show for a while, but he was a fan of the comics before he started on WD. I think that affects his way of thinking when planning out the season and storyline.
