25 posts in this topic

I sent him a note asking if, perhaps, he made a mistake. Here's the response:

NO I MENT TO START THE PRICE AT $3500.00

IF YOU CHECK COMICS BUYER'S GUIDE YOU

WILL SEE THE PRICE FOR YOUR SELF. 2004

10th EDITION 1961 TO PRESENT. THANKS FOR

ASKING. AND I HAVE PLENTY MONEY SO LEST SEE.

Art....

I changed my mind after reading this. I looked at his earlier auctions, and he picked up a bunch of books and "knows nothing about comics..."

Still, I think he is hoping for a sucker who wants ToS 39.

Heyyy! Not a bad idea!! 27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif

Here is one of his feedback posts:

Reply by iartman: YOU SENT TOP NOTCH MERCHANDISE, SUPPER TO BY FROM

I didn't know Ebay sold food. stooges.gif

I noticed his use of "by" instead of "buy" as well. Another favorite is "in tact" instead of "intact" and "except" instead of "accept."

The illiteracy one observes on ebay and most other public forums is eye opening to say the least. I don't know whether I should be amused or frightened that so many are among us. I'm stunned that some of these folks even have the intelligence to go through the steps to get an item listed on ebay. 893frustrated.gif893frustrated.gif

I just sent him this e-mail asking about the price. I figure it's my duty to do so, to make sure some poor slob doesn't bid on it, thinking it's the real deal. Then again, if you're that dumb.... foreheadslap.gif

"I was wondering why you are selling a 50 dollar hardcover reprint book

for 3,500? Did you just make a mistake when you typed it in? I'd like to

bid on it, if the auction was going for the actual value. While the

original Tales of Suspense #39 is valued at $3,500, yours is just a

reprint from the early 90's. Look it up if you don't believe me. If you

do intend on fixing this, please do, because I'd really like to bid. If

not, well, good luck finding a sucker to pay 9 times the actual value!"

He sent me a jpg from the Comic Book Buyer's Guide to >prove< his point (i.e., that it is the "right" book) - and, sure enough, he marked TOS 39!

Let him have fun.

Here's a used version of the book:

There are dates on them. In the indicia, it says when it was originally published, and then the date of the Masterworks printing is listed. He probably thinks that the originally published date is the actual date of the book!

Or...he's just clueless.
