On the long side start in the middle. If you put your fingernails in between the top and bottom you should be able to just pull it apart.

Some seems won't come apart easily so just trim the top and two corner and gentley try and slide it out.

Yes to both questions. Don't crack it out unless you are going to leave it raw or else you will have to get it resubbed.
