My posts were intended to add some levity to the discussion. Things started getting a little too tense, and I like both of the guys in the exchange.

 

This whole thing got me thinking - I often find myself surprised to find a book arrive in the mail that I forgot. This is sometimes due to items taking forever to arrive (no need to mention any names ).

 

Anyhow, it absolutely amazes me how folks on these boards are able to recall what others purchased, from whom, where, when, etc.

Adam did not buy this book from World Wide Comics. And Adam has responded to inquiries about the book but has not offered this book around.

Rick told me you both had a legitimate counteroffer from another individual which Rick wanted to accept and you turned it down. Billy inquired and received a quote weeks after that show. You responded to the WTB inquiry here. All of that in the last three months.

I thought that book was from Mike Carbo. I remember it because there were scores of people who came by to look at the book, and they all seemed very intelligent but people kept saying the little squiggly "word" things on the label didn't provide enough information for them to know anything about the book. Several asked to have the information translated into colors, while one guy insisted on clicks and cricket chirps, which he insisted was much more honest and accurate

This guy is a known shill. He has been banned from the CGC message boards on at least 7 different occasions. He has started multiple posts under multiple different accounts making comments he knows to be false in an attempt to slander my name. He has won tens of thousands of dollars of items of mine on eBay under at least 5 different names (the latest of which is Filterisgay) and has ruined what would've been otherwise legitimate 5 figure sales in no reserve auctions more than once. He's sent physical threats, pornographic PMs, harrassed me on Myspace, insulted my girlfriend the list goes on and on. All because he didn't like something I said/did years ago when I tried to get involved because I didnt like the fact that he stole money from another board member.

 

What part of I was not trying to sell him this book is not being understood? And why is it not being understood?

It can't be one way or the other. Is there any difference between telling someone that a book isn't for sale but you can make an offer and putting a book up for sale with no sale price and an undisclosed reserve? If the undisclosed reserve is prohibitively high then that book is not for sale? So just because Adam has offered this book around and has told folks that he wants $40,000 for it is not for sale? And here he solicits a guy for an offer but the book isn't for sale?

 

I guess taking your logic to the it's ultimate ambition, everything is for sale. Everything has some price, whether that price is a favor, barter or blackmail. Price doesn't necessarily need to be in relationship to money.

 

If a book is in someone's collection, and not a part of inventory, but as a favor you sell it to someone who wants it more, that book was actually not for sale and then it became "for sale" the moment it was offered. For instance, Billy Parker's MMC #9 was not for sale but it became for sale when Primetime wanted it.

 

Also, if a book was bought for investment and for resale at a later date (perhaps around the time of a movie release), that book too is not for sale until the later date approaches but if someone wants to offer the "later date price" I'm sure that book too will come up "for sale" with the right offer. For instance, Cap #1 in 6.5 is not really for sale, as the book was likely bought because it was a long term investment but if someone wants to pay a fair (but strong price) then they might be able to purchase the book.

 

I think that both cases might even apply to this particular book.

 

I think you're being a stickler on the term "for sale" and it really isn't my fault or Adam's fault (nor do I see it as an oxymoron). It's the fault of the English language for not being able to convey intentions or time with the words "For Sale".

 

Maybe a better way of phrasing it would have been to say "I wasn't planning on selling this book right now but I'm happy to listen if you want to make an offer and maybe I'll change my mind".

 

 

And yes it was condescending. It was meant that way.

He has been stalking Adam for nearly 2 years from what I know. He's not listening to reason as Adam is a nice guy and has a good heart. Instead he is simply doing it because he gets enjoyment out of trying to give someone a hard time. In this case the authorities definitely should be notified.

Seriously, why not phone the cops. Give him some grief back. Get a restraining order. That way he won't be able to attend shows your at. etc etc
