That book looked like it had survived the apocalypse...just barely.

How much better would Book Of Eli have been if Denzel was wondering across a post apocalyptic landscape with an issue of Superman 1?

The reason I had listed my Tec #33 on the boards was because I had an opportunity to pick-up a coverless Batman #1.

As I've said many times before, I consider Batman #1 to be the greatest comic book of all-time (just in terms of it being the total package).

If I had the income to justify simply saving up and making a move for one, I would certainly do that as I very much love my Tec #33.

But sadly, I was in the position of needing to sell if I wanted to buy.

i'd say that Supe 1 doesn't look too too bad for being a .5 blue and having cr/ow pages  Nice buy IMO for the money..I'm surprised the PQ was not brittle.

Haha!

"The man who had the last copy of Superman 1 in a post apocalyptic world, he swore to protect it but little did he know a crazed Gary Oldman would stop at nothing to get it as he believed the Superman 1 comic bestowed the knowledge to actually become a Superman."

This Christmas don't miss Denzel Washington in

The Book of Superman

A DC / Time Warner film.

I remember buying that copy from Fishler around 92/93 for $1000.

It was literally the only comic I've ever owned that I was afraid to take out of the bag.

Very happy day when I sold it.

That has to be the worse looking .5 Superman 1. I would rather take a missing back cover with a more presentable front cover and interior.

The winner:

Auction house made $1340 in Sept 2008

Auction house made $870 in Sept 2010

That Superman 1 is very interesting. How it got in such bad shape but maintained decent PQ.

Also have to laugh (but its still a plus) that a single missing piece was taped back on of the back cover, okay well where are the other pieces and why were they not taped.

All in all it is a horridly abused and lowest grade book you could find, but the positives are it is complete astonishingly and it is a Superman 1.

Who ever won it for $8,700 did quite well. $8,700 for a Superman 1 is incredibly cheap and will never most likely be seen again on a complete copy.

I think a 1.0 sold for near 20K a year ago.

What if there was a Tec 27 or Action 1 in this condition?.......Well let's leave that for another day and stay on topic.
