Yes, speculation. I thought you had something concrete besides the extra staples. doh!

The thing that get's me is that the staples are in an awkward position and if you were going to marry a cover wouldn't you be sure to set the staples in their proper position?

The holes where there are no staples looks like proper positioning...methinks this may just be a factory defect.... hm
