Why I'm Glad I'm Not a Coinee........

77 posts in this topic

I'm one of the bigger coin collectors in the Country, and known for my specialty, Franklin Half Dollars......

I actively persue Archie Golden/Silver Age comics, and I send them into CGC for grading...

I was fascinated by both hobbies as a child...... I love em both, and I'm glad to be both....

More Coins/Comics for me!

Yeah, what a bunch of crazy goof-balls!! mad.gif

Now let me get back to one of our most popular threads, that being the "Who would win in a battle Spider-man or Wolverine?" thread in the poll forum...

I wonder who would win in a battle royale between Abe Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Harry Truman, and George Washington??? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Or get rid of the penny altogether. It's lost its usefulness. (usefullness?)

thumbsup2.gif At this point I could do without printed/minted money about 98% of the time. I rarely carry more then $10-20 and that can last me as long as a couple of weeks sometimes. Debit cards are the only way to pay!

You know, I like this turn of events....I think we should have a coin related thread embedded right here in the CGC forum. So how 'bout that Susan B....ever gonna' come back into use?

I personally prefer the Sacajawea dollar....how bout you?

Also, I realized that "I'm Glad I'm Not a Coinee" sounds like the title of some bizarro Dan Hicks song:

I'm glad I'm not a coinee

Of that I am quite sure

I col-lect slabbed old comics

In holders they'll endure

I'm glad I'm not a coinee

I'll pay my slabbing fees

I've dealt with crooked sellers

I've been burned by Comic-Keys

I hope you find your 9.6

I hope it isn't pressed

I hope your favorite book 'aint trimmed

It'd make me real depressed

So here to no re-subbing

Here's to a happy life

The only upgrade I have done

Is with my second wife

I'm glad I'm not a coinee

Or a cardee that's for sure

I'm glad be a comic cat

Of that I'm goddam' sure!

ah yes.....

the same way some of the coin folks would never understand the Kitty paying 10k for a high grade Archie #1....

yet the comic folks will understand....

why is this???

Collectibles of almost anything warrant prices, and when they are certified the prices can be very strong...

certification hopefully protects you against restoration, counterfits, in-accureate gradings.... same is true for rare coins....
