Marvel Premier Editions

Anybody have a list of the books marvel has sent to retailers as preview "Premier" issues.

 

Examples that I know of are:

 

Uncanny X-Force #1

Avengers (2010) #7

X-Men (2010) #1

What are these? Are they a 1:x variant? An advance copy? How do you differentiate them?

They are advance copies to the store. Usually a store will get 1 advance copy if they participate in some type of Marvel event. Usually the interior cover will be a letter directed to the Diamond account hold. For instance, my store gave me their copy of Uncanny X-Force #1. It has a letter printed in the interior addressed to Zeus Comics

They are usually pretty tough to find HG because of the way Marvel sends them. They tend to show up in a manilla envelope sent through the mail.

These are actually called the Party variants

The Premier/Party editions are the same. They were given to retailers as a thank you for ordering the books.

 

Retailers were able to obtain such premier/party copies if they threw a Marvel Exclusive party for the releease of the book, or if they ordered a certain quantity amount of the issue.

I still say thats wrong: party variant does not = premier variant

The Party variant was for stores that had the party and was used to promote the party to general consumer, as in "come to the party for a chance to get this special cover".

 

The Premier variant was an advance "screener" copy of the book that went to those stores that made the necessary purchases to be involved in the party for _____ Day.
