The 2010 Nik Memorial Grading Contest *Round 7* Results

80 posts in this topic

I don't see anything like a 'stain' on the back. I see some marks/smudges of the kind that don't seem to hurt the grade much or at all.

When people say 'stain' I think of water or drink droplets that don't just leave a stain, they affect the quality of the paper. Those definitely hit the grade.

I am enthralled by the developing sub-plot of the The Dane.

Can he even beat those who aren't playing??

Tune in after Round 8 for the update!

I'm rooting for him to make his way out of the basement. :wishluck:

Maybe we could start a " No more Pain for the Dane" grassroots movement?

Damn

I was solid on this at 9.0 and then bumped t to 9.2 with the way things have been going...arrgghh... :frustrated:

That is exactly what I did. Figured it for a 9.0 with that top right corner crease and then gave it a bump.

I thought that top right corner looked odd as it was darker blue in the crease rather than lighter...even in the inverted scan, so I thought maybe it was color touch.

That thought occurred to me as well.

I suspected a color touched crease as well. There appeared to be a clear diagonal line.

Shoulda just ignored it... doh!

I saw that crease, but assumed that it was a non-colour breaking bend. It only breaks colour (slightly) towards the bottom/right part of the crease.

Between that bend/crease, the funky right edge about half way down, the two soft bottom corners, the crunch to the top left corner, and a bit of a smudge or dirt on the back, I was confident that this book was a 9.0.

Of course, I was confident that the last book was a 6.0.

It must be tough to be a little modest when you are a whole lot of Roy. :baiting:

I asked by way of PM, and am asking again:

Any chance we could get a rear cover scan in the slab? Were those stains/smudges I saw on the rear cover artifacts of the scanner?

They are not scanner artifacts.

Great. So how about answering the request to post a rear cover scan in the slab?

My two strike outs in this contest were...ah...me being modest. Yeah, that's it! I was trying to be modest for the Dane. Yeah, that's it!

Other than that rogue bullseye, he is a model of consistency.
